THE BOGEYS
Now we know where the lost balls Go!!! |
Rule and Schedule Update
The greatest golf club in the world just keeps getting better. Well I don't know how to join that club, so what are the Bogeys up to now?

- 2/12/2012 "? " @ ?
Ok so our home course is Birkdale, which keeps things easy and cheap. I'm happy to add more away games by popular demand.
Away Games
For the away games we need to get on to it. All Bogeys interested in playing these games need to let me know ASAP. So where are these games going to be played? Let me know boys and I'll make it happen. Once I get enough confirmed players we'll lock it in Eddy.
So for the next away game 30/9/2012 (and 2/12/2012) I need to start getting numbers. Registration cut off for next away game will be 21/8/2012, so let me know if ya keen for a whack (you can leave your interest on this page by posting a comment below).
Remember all golf courses (except our home course) have dress codes so wear ya socks and collared shirts, be on time, fix ya divots, hide your own booze (you shouldn't have any..Ha) and keep up with the course speed.
Home Games
Home games are a lot more flexible. Good old Birkdale has no booking so just show up and off we go. It's great if you can let me know if you're playing but it's not necessary, so anyone can just rock up and have a crack. The course is BYO alcohol, so pack a couple of cold ones for the round. Green fees are $20 and the club house is CASH only.
Carts
If you want a cart you need to organise it yourself. Away games will be booked under the name "THE BOGEYS" so ring the course to book.
COMPS
Closest to the Pin
We've played a couple now so just a recap on the rules.
- A winning ball must be on the 1st cut of the green.
- Must be your first shot on the hole.
The closest shot has been marked on the green with a scorecard pinned down with a T. The name of the player who has the closest shot, at that point of the game, is marked clearly on the card. The first group places the card on the green in an easy to see location with no name on it if everyone misses the green. The last group needs to remember to pick up the marker and hand it in at the end of the game.
If someone wants to make or get some better closest to the pin markers, go for it, it would be appreciated by all and would deserve a beer from everyone in the group (I think anyway).
Putting Comp
This is a new one for the Bogeys. Quite easy really, count how many putts you have on each hole, and mark on the scorecard. At the end of the game the player with the lowest score wins. So here are the rules.
- Only count putts that are on the 1st cut of the green. (it's not every shot with your putter just the ones on the green).
- Draws will be settled by a putt off on the practice green.
Not many rules, it's easy. Most winners come from players who are always just off the green but still putting.
Next games prizes. The Beers Boys not the clubs. |
What Else?
I don't know.
If we add in the putting comp would you guys prefer to drop one of the closest pins? So prizes would be 1 six pack for closest pin, 1 for the putting comp and 2 for the overall winner.
OR keep both closest pins. 1 six pack for each closest pin, 1 for putting comp and 1 for overall winner???? Post a comment with your say.
Golf Trip
Who's keen on a golf trip? We can start looking at organising a trip. We've had one before, where about 10 or so guys went down to Byron Bay for a long weekend. We left on a Friday morning in a mini bus and came home at Sunday lunch time. We managed 2 games and stayed at a backpackers and all had a great time. Phil Antrobus did a great job organising that trip and I think it cost about $200 which included the minibus, golf and accommodation. So it would be great to get another one on the cards. We could start a VIB club (Very Important Bogeys) and make the membership $200 (which should cover most of the costs). We need to get the money upfront so deposits can be paid etc. That is just my idea! What's yours?
So if anyone has ideas or wants to help, you can contact me. If you wanna get quotes or info you can email them to me and I can cut and paste it on to the blog for everyone to check out.
