The Bogeys
"The Bogeys Get Rollin"
Game 5 Birkdale 19/8/2012, Red and Yellow 9
Congratulations Kris
Good work Bogeys, we've made it to game five. So big thanks to everyone who played (all five of us, ha). So with only five to play we jumped all together in one group and with some usual words of wisdom from course management, off we went.

So Rob took out that six pack.
So a par result for a putting comp would be 36 (2 putts per hole) three putts are a bummer and four putts are a no no. So putting is a huge part of the game and putting comps can point out some easy shots to be saved (especially the four putts). No zero putts were recorded (which would mean a chip in, or putt from off the edge of the green etc) but there were a couple of close calls. The first zero putt recorded in a putting comp will win a Bogey ball.
Closest the Pin
The Bogeys still played two closest pins, so it was an action packed day. First par three was the second hole on the Howard Nine, about one hundred meters long, you know the one. Big Al cracked one on the green (I think it was Al, I was still a little shady at this stage of the morning) and we all thought we were in trouble. Rob got rollin and put one a bit closer. Sorry boys I was thirsty! Ha.
One down one to go. Well we all missed on the next hole and had to wait until the 12th hole (or the 3rd on the yellow, Westward nine) to have another go. Up the hill about 140 meters to a sloping green, a tricky hole at the best of times. Couple of close calls, then Mr Mark Tooker steps it up and smacks one on to the lovely green stuff to win himself some nice green bottles, well done.
The Game
The Bogeys had five in the group, Mark and Al had a buggy so we were hoping this would speed up the group. The course closed the hole behind us which was good because we were browns cows. It was a slow first nine. We eventually finished the front nine with Kris just missing a par on the ninth hole par 4 (unlucky mate).
The watery stuff didn't help us with speed on the front nine.

Before setting off on the back nine we boosted our energy supplies with a hot dog and set off down Westward. My favourite nine I must say. We managed to pick up the pace and had a pretty good nine (except when I missed two makable birdies and turned one into a bogey on the last). A good game, Al showed some good golf temperament with some nice dummy spits, ha nice work Al.
Who won? Well it was down to a count back, which Kris won on the first hole. Well done mate, great game and you're our second Bogey winner.
The Results
- Kris -2 (winner on first count back)
- Rob -2
- Mark +3
- Phil S. +11
- Al +12
